Transforming waste into opportunity for a sustainable future
At Talwa Sanitation & Alternative Energy (TSAE), we are committed to promoting a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable world through our waste management and alternative energy solutions. From waste sorting and recycling to energy-efficient lighting and renewable energy production, we offer a comprehensive range of solutions that are tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. We are passionate about reducing environmental impact, driving long-term cost savings, and promoting a more sustainable world for generations to come.
Our waste management solutions include waste collection, transportation, and disposal, as well as recycling and composting services . We also offer alternative energy solutions such as solar power and bioenergy, to help community reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and move towards a more sustainable energy future.
Our journey begun in 2007 when the Founders of TSAE established a local NGO called Calvary Empowerment Team (CET). The NGO was actively engaged in working with children and youths in the areas of health, education, gender, and youth development. One of the health programs focused on promoting sanitation and hygiene practices in schools and communities. As students learned proper waste disposal and hygiene practices, there became a need to have a waste service provider to handle the removal and disposal of these wastes from the schools and communities.
CET begun cleaning up exercises in communities and at schools, but needed a sustainable approach to the growing demand for waste collection services. It was at this point when the Founders of CET, who are also the Founders of TSAE, established Angelavin Urban Services (AUS) as a for-profit waste management and urban services company in February 2013.
Upon registration, the Company obtained Operational Permits from the Monrovia City Corporations as a Community Based Enterprise (CBE) and was restricted to serving specific communities within Old Road, Zone 900 and Central Monrovia, Zone 500.
In 2021, AUS applied for Small Medium Enterprise (SME) status with the MCC. This move was part of a strategic plan to expand the scope and geographical coverage of the Company. Both the MCC and PCC granted the SME status, thus making TSAE a hybrid company that could operate as a SME and CBE. Then, in 2023, Angelavin Urban Services (AUS) was re-branded to Talwa Sanitation & Alternative Energy (TSAE), a strategic decision to enable us operate across a broader spectrum of the waste management sector.
Since 2023, TSAE has been emerging as a leader in the waste sector, influencing policies, and practices, and contributing to the development of the sector.
In 2025, TSAE obtained permits from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide medical waste services in Liberia.
